From the gardeners point of view, it was good for the rain to come on Monday night. It was as if the ground was crying out for water, reminding me of Psalm 63:
‘O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.
Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.
I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.
My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you …’
Likewise, our world is crying out for justice, as Dave Edwins will be sharing in the morning service from Micah 6:8 - ‘He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.’
In the evening service we’re continuing our studies on Daniel and will be seeing 3 friends, who must have been crying out to God for help, as they were (literally) taken through a fiery furnace. Additionally, following this weekend, Tim and some of our Youth leaders will, no doubt, be crying out for sleep, after taking 19 of our young people to ‘Spree’! They all would certainly value our prayers.
Isn’t it great to have a God who hears our cries to Him and is willing a wanting to be involved. Not necessarily to take away our problems, but giving us the strength to endure and promising to never leave us.
Next Sunday morning we’re having a Church Family Service with the theme growing in the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Fliers are in the entrance hall to invite family and friends. Also we’ll be announcing the winners of our Sunflower growing competition, so do get photos to Sarah our administrator ASAP.
Finally, we’re very grateful to David and Anne Adams for opening up their home again today for a shared lunch. Everyone is welcome from 1pm today.
